How to Buy a Leather Couch
How to Buy a Leather Couch. Buying a new couch is a big decision and you want to be sure that you are completely satisfied because it will be seen and used by you and your family everyday. Leather couches have been known to provide both comfort and durability. When considering a leather couch, there are several factors to consider depending on your needs.
Choose your type of leather. Aniline leather is less stain resistant but is more pliable and remains softer. Then there is Semi-Aniline leather which is a little more stain resistant but remains just as soft. Pigmented leather is the most common for active families because it is more durable and easier to keep clean and maintain.
Consider top grain or split grain leather. The difference is that top grain is the strongest and most durable part of the hide but it has no consistent fiber pattern. The split pattern fibers run in the same direction. Because of this split pattern is more susceptible to tearing.
Consider the support you want. If you prefer a softer couch then consider a couch supported by 8 way suspensions. On the other hand for a more firm couch, sinuous spring support is a better choice.
Look at style. Styles range from a traditional to a casual and more relaxed look.
- Leather couches are great for families with small children. Good leather does not soak up stains and they can be easily cleaned.
- Leather is up to four times stronger than the traditional fabric couches.
- Leather will remain the same temperature as the home, if not cooler. They do not heat up in the summer months as long as the temperature of the home is not too warm.
